Kid Friendly Activities for the Entire Family in Philadelphia

July 14, 2017

Are you looking for fun activities that will keep the entire family engaged this summer? Maybe you’re looking for new ways to get out and about but aren’t sure where to look or who to ask. At Right Steps ® Education, we take pride in our ability to offer a wide range of excellent suggestions when it comes to kid-friendly activities that the entire family can enjoy. Especially during the summer months, kid-focused events abound and there’s no better way to get out and experience the fun than by clearing your calendar and making space for a few fun events.

One of the best ways to enjoy the lazy summer months is through experiencing the Blue Cross River Rink for its summer season and all it has to offer. The area that housed this past winter’s Winterfest is now transformed into a warm weather wonderland. Here you’ll find a roller rink a boathouse-style lodge, a fantastic kids’ play area and a host of food and drink options for everyone. Come find out why the Blue Cross River Rink is one of the best spots to be for the months of July and August. There’s even an urban beach area with a view of the Delaware River. If you’re looking for shade, you’ll find it underneath one of the many beach umbrellas provided, too. The Blue Cross River Rink is free to the public every day through Labor Day in September.

Another favorite Philadelphia play area for summer is Smith Memorial Playground. The park is located in a six-acre, wooded parkland right inside beautiful Fairmount Park and is home to a historic four-story, 16,000-foot play mansion. If you have little ones who love playing outdoors, then you won’t want to miss your chance to get out and enjoy Smith Memorial Playground. There’s even a 44-foot wooden slide and spinning jungle gyms, too. One of the greatest reasons to check out Smith Memorial Playground is because it’s such a unique spot and also because it’s free. The playhouse is perfect for kids ten years old and under, there is a wide assortment of toys, games, and activities for all of the kids who come to play. There’s even an indoor mini-town called “Smithville.” The entire family is bound to love this destination.

Finally, what would summer be like without some live music? One of the best kid-friendly venues for music is being held at Smith Memorial Playground on August 18th. Kindie Music will be hosting Alex and the Kaleidoscope. Be sure to get there early with your blankets to sit down and enjoy the music with the entire family. Kindie Music is also hosting other kid concerts throughout the months of July and August.
